The smallest venue I have ever seen David Bowie (not including Tin Machine), and if memory serves, it was a really warn night. Didn't expect "Quicksand" to be the first song of the evening - nor to see the Earthling Jacket in person, a mere few feet in front of me. Totally in awe.Douglas Shirlaw

When David walked on and performed Quicksand while strumming an acoustic, the only think I could compare it to was watching an old VHS of Ziggy at Hammersmith in terms of atmosphere and the sense of occasion. My friend, Diamond Davie, touched Bowie's hand and declared he wouldn't be washing his hand again that summer. "Shake the hand that touched David Bowie, he would tell anyone who would listen." I've held on to the gold-dust ticket from that summer night in 1997 ever since.Richard Purden
